Adam de la Halle: Chansons, Rondeaux, Motets
Our new translation of Adam de la Halle's chansons, rondeaux and motets is now available here. Adam de la Halle (c1247-1287), otherwise known as Adam d'Arras and Adam le Bossu (a family epithet) is considered the last of the troubadours. A poet-composer of exceptional quality, his works anticipate the developments of music in the 14th century which led to the compositions of Guillaume de Machaut. The music for all the pieces here translated is extant. For example listen to 'Tant con je vivrai' here.
