News Update - November
I am curently working on a new rhymed verse translation of Gottfried Von Strassburg's 'Tristan' (Part IV of XIV). Written in Middle High German at the start of the 13th Century, Gottfried gives us the classic retelling of the story of Tristan and Iseult, which he based on the Anglo-French version of Thomas of England. Though Gottfried's work is unfinished, the conclusion of the tale can be pieced together from the extant fragments of Thomas' version. I will therefore be translating the last four fragments from the Anglo-French, to provide a satisfactory ending. Both originals are written in octosyllabic verse couplets, as will be the translation. If progress is as planned, online publication will be some time before the summer of 2020.
