A selection of poems by Tristan Corbière, from his sole published work, Les Amours Jaunes is now available on the website, here. Celebrated by Verlaine as among the Symbolists, he was also regarded by the Surrealist poets as their forerunner in the use of condensed language. He should however be most enjoyed for the unique, wry, take on his own tragically short life, displayed in his work, which reveals as it does his intelligence, courage, wit, and poetic strength.
