The online translations of Chateaubriand's novellas, Atala and René, have now been illustrated with public domain images. Many of the paintings and engravings used for the former depict aspects of the North American continent in the age of exploration and settlement, and reveal a wealth of magnificent American landscape art, much of which is too little known and deserving of wider appreciation.

A combined, colour print edition of the two works is also available.
