News Update: August

Work continues on a selection of rhymed translations of Tasso madrigals; verses, mainly from the Rime, which were set for voice by numerous late sixteenth and early seventeenth century composers, including Monteverdi, and which have subsequently been set to music by later composers. The intention is to demonstrate the stand-alone excellence of Tasso's poems, treated in their own right, and not simply as subordinate to their madrigal settings.

I also continue to work, slowly, on my own original poetry, while reading classic Russian poetry, particularly Blok and Annensky, with a view to producing selections from both those poets.
