This collection of original poetry by A. S. Kline, is mostly concerned with the natural landscape, particularly the poet’s local terrain of limestone uplands and valleys. However, the poems range widely over the human condition, and our species’ place in the universe, while continually returning to nature for fresh inspiration, illumination, and reconciliation. Further themes touched on are myth and legend, and poetry as a celebration and echo of the natural world. The title of the collection hints at ways in which the human mind creates another nature, another natural dimension for itself, for example by means of language intensified, as here, in poetry, or through a deeper scientific understanding of the wider universe expressed through mathematics.
